Parmigiani Fleurier Forma XL Hebdomadaire

My latest acquisition..

I've been admiring Parmigiani watches for some time due to their exquisite finishing.. Finally able to add one to my collection and I have to say it's the most beautifully crafted watch I've ever owned..  The Parmigiani caliber PF110 is an 8 days movement manufacture in-house by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier, the manufacturing arm of Parmigiani Fleurier, which also helped developed the well regarded Chopard LUC movement.. The movement is finished beautifully with plenty of interior anglage (see last picture) which is rarely seen from other haute horlogerie brands today..

Eterna Centenaire '61

Just share my latest acquisition.. Vintage Eterna '61 in 18k yellow gold.. Eterna was the first watch brand to use a ball bearing rotor in 1948.. The technology was way ahead of its time back then and so successful that Eterna used it for their logo.. Beautiful, albeit simple, linen texture dial and superb movement finishing/decoration for its price..

My favorite dress watch.. A deceptively simple two handed ultra thin watches from JLC, the master of ultra thin movement..

 



 

 

Powered by JLC cal 849, which at 1.85 mm thickness, is considered as the workhorse of ultra thin movement..

As far as I know cal 849 is the only basic JLC movement that is assembled in the Watchmaking Specialties Workshop together with JLC most complicated movements such as the minute repeater..

Gerald Genta Retro Fantasy

Understatement, the fine art of discretion, expresses itself in many variations..

This had been my grail for a long time and it took 6 years before I finally had one.. From the genius mind of Gerald Charles Genta, the greatest watch designer of all time.. Based from what I read, these were created based on a request from Sultan of Brunei.. Genta himself hesitated to put a Disney characters on a luxury watch, as he thought no self respecting adult would want to wear it.. But the Sultan insisted, and so the line of Retro Fantasy was created with Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Minnie on the dial face..

As it happened, Donald Duck was my favorit Disney character so it was a dream came true when I first got my hands on this watch..
